Four Tips to Winterize Your Hair

You’ve heard of winterizing your car, maybe even your boat. But your hair? Seriously? Yes. Just as your skin needs a little extra attention during dry wintery months, so does your hair.

Here are four tips to keep your hair in top performance this winter:
  1. Avoid high hot water temps in the shower -  Nobody likes a cold shower, but excessive heat in the shower can strip hair of needed moisture and promote dryness and breakage. As an extra tip, use lukewarm water to rinse away conditioner. It shocks the cuticle closed. The result: Healthier, shinier hair that doesn’t look winter dull.

  2. Wash your hair less – Another method to reduce dryness. This will also keep moisture-sucking blow drying to a minimum, too. But that doesn’t mean you should leave the house with wet hair though. The moisture in your locks combined with the cold could lead to dry, brittle hair.

  3. Use leave-in conditioner – Not only does conditioner maximize moisture, but it will all also combat that winter bummer of bummers, static electricity. If static is still getting you down, try rubbing a dryer sheet lightly over your scalp.

  4. Get less highlights, go for more umpf – Since highlighting can be drying, consider getting fewer highlights or giving them a rest altogether over the cold months. Instead, opt for a change of hue. Once spring has sprung, you can resume your highlights again.

These are absolutely some great tips! In winters you need to take extra care of your hair. I would really suggest your readers to use natural products for hair and skin as well.

The tips you have given are excellent. Nice tip that we have to avoid a hot shower for hair. Thank you
